FOOD: Everyone needs to try The Fat Radish….

I have been dying to try The Fat Radish and was so happy when I was able to get a reservation for Cholula, Michi and myself. As soon as we walked into the Chinatown restaurant I knew I loved the place. The decor is rustic yet chic. The whitewashed brick walls and little window seats in the bar area made me so happy. As did the unique seats at the bar.

Now I never have a hard time ordering. Usually I can look at a menu and pick out exactly what I want to eat from each section. the Fat Radish menu threw me for a loop. I literally wanted EVERYTHING. Thank goodness Cholula and Michi were not in Dukan Diet mode as they were willing to chow down with me.

We started with Oysters, Grilled Cheee & Pickles, Deviled Brussel Sprouts and the Peeky Toe Crab Gratin. ALL WERE EFFING DIVINE. Then I had the waitress recommended Green Curried Monkfish. I wish I had leftovers for today. It was that good. As were the sides of Truffle Fries and Sauteed Tuscan Kale with Chilis.

Obviously we were full but that wasn’t going to deter us from having dessert. We had a slice of a banana pie and the most delicious donuts. My mouth is just watering thinking of the meal. I’m not going to lie, best meal of I’ve had in 2012 and is up there with one of the best meals I’ve ever had in NYC. YOU MUST TRY The Fat Radish.

Sidenote, there was one drawback to our dining experience. Despite dropping $300 on a meal, the hostess stood by our table, glaring at Michi until she finished her glass of Prosecco. We were all quite cognizant of the fact that the restaurant was quite full and that they needed our table. Michi literally had two sips of Prosecco left yet the effing equestrian outfitted hostess was stalking us. It was not cool and quite unfortunate because:
1. Our waitress was so damn nice and attentive.
2. The bartender was super friendly and when we needed help with a bottle of wine, one of the owners came and talked it out with Cholula.
3. We arrived at the restaurant at 7:33pm for our 7:30pm reservation. Despite the fact that the restaurant was pretty empty then, the hostess made us wait. I’m fairly certain she forgot about us as the other hostess came over and asked if we needed help. She sat us immediately. Had the equestrian hostess sat us when we arrived then we would’ve been done with our meal earlier and she wouldn’t have to stare Michi down to finish her drink.
