Shewon’t cause a paparazzi frenzy like Beyonce, but she’ll likely generate morecamera flashes than ho-hum Liv Tyler.
Pippa Middleton reportedly wants to flee the constant paparazzi in London andthinks she may find some solace here in Manhattan. A report surfaced today in Grazia magazine that the Duchess of Cambridge’s sisteris considering moving to New York City.
Middleton gained worldwide fame last year, as the maid of honor when hersister, Kate, married Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge.
She had mulled packing her boxes for Paris, but after an April incident when afriend pointed a fake gun at the paparazzi, leading to bad press, shereportedly reconsidered.
After that incident, she hired a public relations firm to rehab her image, andreportedly aimed to shed the paparazzi, which voraciously follows her everystep across the pond.
The move would also coincide with the launch of her party planning book,”Celebrate,” which hits bookstores in October.
But readers crave royal news here, too, said Albert Lee, executive editor of UsWeekly. This week’s issue celebrates William and Kate’s one-year anniversary.
“If she’s trying to get away from the press, she’s coming to the wrongcity,” Lee said. “Pippa just walking down the street in a fashionabledress, people are interested. The second she lands, I’m sure we’ll be assigningreporters to cover her.”
He estimated that she would rank right smack in the middle of the city’scelebrity-soaked scene.
“I would say that Pippa is not quite yet at the level of a Beyoncephotograph, but she’s certainly worth far more than a Courtney Love photograph,”Lee said.
And Steve Sands, longtime celebrity photographer and founder of New YorkNewswire photo agency, said if she’s trying to avoid camera flashes, she shouldhightail it to another city.
“She’s going to be stalked 24/7,” Sands said of the paparazzi.”They’re going to make her life miserable.”
Photos can reach up to $1 million for huge stars like Beyonce, Sands said, butadded that Middleton probably couldn’t touch that stratosphere yet — unless shehad a baby or got married.
“Pippa sitting at a Knicks game would be an awesome picture, or in YankeeStadium, or with Derek Jeter. The minute that happens the world will collapseinto itself,” said Jill Stempel, the New York bureau chief of the WorldEntertainment News Network.
