Last night Lexo kindly invited a bunch of us over for a short rib dinner at her house… I was impressed as she works and short ribs take sometime to cook. Normally I’d turn down a Monday night dinner but how can you say no to a homecooked meal? You can’t and I’m glad I didn’t.
First off, I. AM. OBSESSED. with Lexo’s apartment.
1. It’s located in an elevator townhouse in the Upper 60′s between Park and Madison… Stellar location.
2. Her kitchen is DIVINE.
3. The previous owners enlisted Celerie Kemble to decorate it so the apartment is filled with grass cloth wallpaper and painted hardwood floors. I now know that when I make tons of money (slash marry a rich guy) I want to hire Celerie Kemble to decorate my home.
4. Robert Redford once owned the apartment. Just thinking of him in “The Way We Were” makes me swoon.
Secondly, Lexo is a fierce cook. Her mashed potatoes will probably have me on the eliptical for a good two hours tonight… and those short ribs, FINGER LICKING GOOD… Obviously I had to ask her the secret to her “I work all day yet am serving a delicious home cooked meal” success and she said it was all due to her Cusinart Slow Cooker and
William Sonoma’s Short Rib Braising Base.
Basically Lexo salt and peppered the ribs and broiled them for 10 mins in the morning… and then put them in the slow cooker with the Williams Sonoma sauce and let cook for seven hours. HOW EASY-PEASY IS THAT?
I need a slow cooker slash need to know the difference between a slow cooker and a crock-pot… Can someone please enlighten me?
P.S. Lexo, thank you for starting me week of gluttony off right… Now that I’ve seen your place, you are never invited over to mine… That said, I will happily come over this winter and make you and Nacho dinner….
Monday:
BREAKFAST- Fage with Strawberry
LUNCH – Left over sausage-stew and jasmine rice … I need to think of a better name for the stew as “sasuage-stew” sounds sorta josie-grossie.
SNACK: Boursin and crackers… I polished off an entire Boursin, by myself, over the course of three days… That’s 200 calories per day. GROSS.
DINNER – Lexo’s braised short ribs, mashed potatoes, asparagus, brussel sprouts, some corn bread.. oh and I took a bite of Nacho’s short ribs too cause it was the perfect bite for my remaining mashed potatoes…
Sidenote: This is my eating week…..
Monday – Lexo’s Short Ribs
Tuesday – Dinner with Kage, place TBD
Wednesday – Babbo with Bite of the Apple and Bronxville C
Thursday – Faux-Fasting
Friday – Red Rooster with half of the “fried chicken club” and Coco and Hollywood
Saturday – Brunch with Bullanah and Diablo… Dinner at Bilboquet with Moni.
Sunday – I will be wearing the belly band or pregnancy jeans whilst watching BREAKING DAWN with Lala.
no diff between a crock pot and slow cooker – crock pot is to slow cooker what kleenex is to tissue
