This evening I was at the gym, on the bike, bb-ing with Lexo and somehow it came up that I was still peeved that her boyfriend left me stranded in Greenwich after Irene. Her response was basically that she understood but that she “doesn’t like negative energy and you can’t hold grudges.”
She was right and told me just wanted I needed to hear.. Immediately instead of thinking “my ‘friend’ sucks for leaving me in CT” I thought, “I am dead lucky to have a sister and brother-in-law who have me out to their house and don’t mind that I’m there for five days…” In fact, right before I was about to leave my sister said, “why don’t you stay another night?”
Lexo’s comment made me take all that negative energy and turn it into things I was thankful for as a result of being “left” in Greenwich.. I mean, how lucky am I that my niece and nephew enjoy my visits? And that my sister is a great cook who always makes yummy meals and includes me? Or that my brother-in-law worries about me like an older brother?
Now the best part of being thankful is that my mood changed and I felt lighter… I highly recommend that you try it. Think of something that has been bothering you of late and try to turn it into something positive.. Once you do you’re day will get better… I PROMISE! And if you are having a hard time finding the silver lining, tell me your peeve and I’ll help you turn the frown upsidedown.
