I just about died when Lexo sent me this picture of the cake her family friend, who was seeking refuge at her apartment, brought for Hurricane Irene.
Did you survive Hurricane Irene? I’m not going to lie, starting Wednesday I was buying water for the apartment. On Thursday I went to Trader Joe’s and bought up food. On Friday I was buying batteries, flashlights and making sure I had enough cash.. Oh, and I even tarped my room in case it leaked. I WAS PREPARED and it was all for nothing.. That’s not true. Irene affected many people, just not my apartment nor my sister’s street… Everywhere surrounding her street, however, is totally flooded. This house just lucked out…
I hear all these people complaining that we all over-reacted but, WHAT IF WE DIDN’T and the storm was as bad as they predicted? Then everyone would be b*tching and moaning that people didn’t do enough. People should just be happy that we were prepared for the worst and got the best. Case closed.
Btw: I’m still stuck in Greenwich. Metro-north is down and one of my friends, who was out here, selfishly ignored me texts and drove back to the city without me….Luckily he has a super nice girlfriend, Lexo (who provided me with all the NYC Irene pictures) who offerred to come out here and pick me up… Thanks, Lexo but I’m thinking the trains will start running soon enough.
Thursday
BREAKFAST: Fage with strawberry
LUNCH:Fish Taco
DINNER: Pre-party at GDubbs…. He had L’asso pizza and I’m now OBSESSED. They even make a gluten freen version.
Friday
BREAKFAST: nothing…too stressed cause of Irene…
LUNCH: nothing….again, too stressed cause of Irene… and had to get a train out to Greenwich, CT.
SNACK: Fromage, crackers and salami…
DINNER: pasta with fresh garlic, mozzarella and basil with grilled steak…Afterwards the Weber was put in the basement for Irene.
Saturday
BREAKFAST: Toast at 11am because I spent the morning preparing for Irene. E’s street was supposed to be evacuated so we had to prep and get last minute supplies.. in the end, we didn’t evacuate.
LUNCH: Sandwiches and a slice of quiche..Anything we could get our hands on as we were running around.
SNACK: This triple-cream fromage with crackers and salami. SO YUM!
DINNER: Roasted Chicken, Mashed Potatoes and Salad
Sunday
BREAKFAST: pancakes, sausage, eggs…. E made a “we didn’t flood cause of Irene” feast. This was exactly what I needed as I couldn’t sleep all night. I was literally checking Twitter (which had amazing updates) and the news non-stop… I have obsessive-compulsive disorder.
LUNCH: Korean soup and Rice
DINNER: Soba stir-fry and Korean rice cakes. I AM SO FREAKING BLOATED. I need to be back in the city, eating kale salad and hitting the gym. My entire, “let’s get into shape for the Garden Weazles reunion concert” went out the window with Hurricane Irene.. Is it just me or does everyone eat during natural disasters?

Confirmed about eating and disasters… Dennis wanted to record me eating wings with VIGOR and send it to you… glad you are safe and dry. XO
