Kelly just made a good point to me.. She said “It sort of feels like Oprah is throwing herself a funeral while still alive the way she’s closing out the show… I mean her ego has got to be MONSTROUS.”
I never thought of it that way but I feel like Kelly might be right. That said, I have never been an Oprah DVR-er but I am doing so for her final eight shows.. Last night, I watched both parts of her James Frey interview. It was absolutely amazing. If you missed it, you can watch parts here. She actually wept a little bit when she apologized to James Frey for letting her ego get in the way with the controversial second interview she had with James after the Smoking Gun revealed that his A MILLION LITTLE PIECES wasn’t so much of a memoir as it was a fictionalized version of the truth.
I agree – her ego is HUGE. But….after watching her behind the scene shows, it looks like stars were proactively calling her producers, begging to be a part of the final shows and Oprah was really not involved at all. That being said, I really dislike her after seeing her interact with her staff – scary stuff.
I don’t watch the after show but I’m catching up right now. Watching the Chris Rock episode and peeing a little.
I love that she went from rags to riches.
